Yellow 3

The story of a warplane from the depths of the sea.

On March 24 1943, a German Messerschmitt Bf 109, Yellow 3, had to make an emergency landing at sea off Trøndelag. The aircraft quickly disappeared into the depths, but the pilot survived.

This exhibition follows Yellow 3’s ditching at sea, the search to find it and the rebuild of the aircraft at the museum. You will learn more about the pilot, the type of aircraft and the war of which it was a part. Finally, this is a story about friendship between people across the divides of war.
